In order to get him to play Captain America, Marvel had to make Chris Evans an offer that couldn't be refused, especially after he turned down the role twice.

Evans turned down the role through fear of committing to a role for such a long time, leading Marvel to reduce the number of appearances from nine films to six.

Evans states, "When you do movies one at a time, there's a certain level of control you have in your career. With a six-picture contract, if one of these movies comes out, there's a positive response and as a result your personal life and your level of anonymity is altered. You may potentially need an opportunity to retreat and regroup. And if you have this contract, you may not be afforded that chance."

From advance screenings, critics and fans are praising the latest film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and currently has a 92% 'Fresh' rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier is out in UK cinemas on 28th March and US cinemas on 4th April.
