Not many people have heard of the film, but Alone Yet Not Alone made headlines after their Academy Award nomination for Best Original Song was rescinded.

The film is an adaptation of the true-life story of Barbara and Regina Leininger, who were forcibly take from their German immigrant family in 1750s Pennslyvania.

The title song, written by Bruce Broughton and Dennis Spiegel, was named along with "Let it Go" from Frozen, "Ordinary Love" from Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, "Happy" from Despicable Me 2, and "The Moon Song" from Her.

The disqualification comes after the Academy discovered that Broughton, a former Academy governor, had contacted members of the Academy Awards music branch to "make them aware of his submission during the nominations voting period".

"Alone Yet Not Alone" will be not be replaced by another nominee in Best Original Song.
