The Digital Fix DVDs and Blu-rays of 2012

We're an eclectic bunch at the Digital Fix, each with our own tastes and tendencies, which makes it difficult to form a consensus when it comes to these year-end polls. Taking a look at the various top tens and top fives below you'll notice that there is very little crossover between our contributors' choices. Some discs get two nods (Game of Thrones, Star Trek The Next Generation, Lawrence of Arabia, Godzilla), with only two - namely the BFI's handling of Ken Russell's The Devils and Masters of Cinema's The Passion of Joan of Arc - securing more than that number. But as I pointed out last year when introducing our choices of 2011, the very fact that our separate preferences and enthusiasms can be so easily satisfied is surely a testament to the ongoing health of physical media.

The following lists are in the order of preference as stated by the individual contributors. If they appear in alphabetical order then no preference was made. Please click the images to read more about a given release.
