Billy Crystal comments on Monsters University

Having given the teaser trailer to Monsters University another watch, all we can make out so far is that Mike and Sully aren’t the beastly bessies we know they’ll become, monsters can party hard and Mr. Wazowski makes for one hell of a disco ball. Granted, it’s not a lot to go on, but as luck would have it, one side of the beloved scream team has talked about what else we can expect.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Billy Crystal (the voice of Mike Wazowski) had a few things to say on what’s in store, giving us a rough idea on how he and John Goodman’s blue behemoth will cross paths...

“[Mike and Sully] end up in the same fraternity where they have this scare competition — like Greek Games in college. They have to mobilize a group, sort of like Revenge of the Nerds-monsters, and get them ready to be scary.”

Crystal went on to say that the two are around 17/18 years old in the script and that “[Mike] has a retainer, even.” In which case, expect competitive behaviour, pranks aplenty and maybe even an appearance from a familiar snake-haired beau for the unfortunate, snot coloured sidekick. Of course that’s just a guess, prepare for confirmation when the prequel arrives, July 12, 2013. Until then, check out the teaser below.
