Dracula - Prince of Darkness (UK) in March

StudioCanal have announced the UK Double Play release of Dracula - Prince of Darkness on 5th March 2012. This horror classic starring Christopher Lee and Barbara Shelley is the first title in a new joint restoration project between StudioCanal and Hammer Films which aims to restore and release some of Hammer's most iconic horror titles on DVD and Blu-ray.

Along with the fully restored film, Dracula - Prince of Darkness boasts a comprehensive extras package produced in association with Hammer expert and author Marcus Hearn. Extras include:

• Commentary featuring Christopher Lee, Suzan Farmer, Francis Matthews & Barbara Shelley
• World of Hammer episode "Hammer Stars: Christopher Lee"
• Back to Black
• Super 8mm Behind the Scenes footage
• Restoration comparison
• Trailer

• Orginal Print UK Theatrical Titles

Hammer have setup a restoration blog which goes into a little more detail on the restoration efforts - Hammer Blog. Specific to Dracula is that it was "restored at Pinewood from a two-perf original cut negative (OCN), scanned at 4k and restored in 2k." As seen by the extras they have also restored the original UK title cards to the film.
