Mark Boydell has reviewed the Region 2 release of September, a "serious" Woody Allen film that thankfully manages to not collapse under its own aspirations. The DVD is the usual extra-free MGM release that most of Allen's work has got to far.

Fast Times at Ridgemont High

In the first of three reviews of films written and/or directed by Cameron Crowe, Gary Couzens has reviewed the Region 2 release of Fast Times at Ridgemont High, a grittier than usual teen comedy-drama from 1982, with a cast of future famous names, that has a sizeable cult following. Columbia's DVD release has some good extras, but stops short of full-blown Special Edition status.

Speed (Special Edition)

Twelve O'Clock High

Mike Sutton has reviewed the Region 2 release of Twelve O'Clock High. An excellent war movie with Gregory Peck at the top of his form, presented on a bare-bones but technically pleasing Fox disc.

Von Ryan's Express

Alexander Larman has reviewed the Region 2 release of Von Ryan's Express. An entertaining Boy's Own adventure, with a more intelligent script than most, is released on a technically fine disc with no proper extras.

The Piano Teacher

Noel Megahey has reviewed the Region 2 release of Michael Haneke's 'The Piano Teacher'. The controversial Austrian director once again shocks and stretches the boundaries of cinema with a powerful and intense award-winning drama on an excellent DVD release from Artificial Eye.

The Wicker Man

Raphael Pour-Hashemi has reviewed the Region 2 release of The Wicker Man. One of the best British horror films to have ever been made has been given the best DVD release compared to any other region.
