Wonder Boys

Raphael Pour-Hashemi has reviewed the Region 1 release of Wonder Boys. An excellent adult drama from Curtis Hanson starring Michael Douglas and Frances McDormand.

Michael Collins

Alexander Larman has done a retrospective review of the Region 2 release of Michael Collins. A brilliant film is sadly not given especially good treatment on an early disc from Warners, but is partially redeemed by an excellent documentary.

The Honeymoon Killers

Mike Sutton has reviewed the Region 2 release of The Honeymoon Killers. A bona-fide cult movie prese...

Killer Klowns from Outer Space

Mark Davis has reviewed the Region 1 release of Killer Klowns from Outer Space. Just released this week, this cult classic has been given a fantastic disc from MGM. To make the package even more inviting it only costs around Ł10 to import it. So if you haven't seen this film before, then you really have no excuse for not giving it a try.

Lost Highway

Alan Daly has reviewed the German Region 2 release of Lost Highway. An impressive disc of the David Lynch film marred only slightly by a lack of extras.

Akira Ltd Ed Tin

Mark Davis has reviewed the Region 1 release of Akira Ltd Ed Tin. For the six people that haven't seen/bought this film already, don't hesitate, buy it now. This is a great film and it has been rewarded with a fantastic two-disc set from Pioneer.

Elvis: That's The Way It Is (Special Edition)

Raphael Pour-Hashemi has reviewed the Region 2 release of Elvis: That's The Way It Is (Special Edition). A newly restored special edition version of the 1970 concert film that will having you swinging those hips to the king of rock and roll!

The Hidden Fortress

Dave Foster has reviewed the Region 1 release of The Hidden Fortress. Criterion show us what they are made of with a superb DVD edition of Kurosawa's classic adventure film.

Sanjuro

Dave Foster has reviewed the Region 1 release of Sanjuro. A sequel of sorts to the excellent Yojimbo this is another great Kurosawa film to receive a substandard DVD release from Criterion.

The Graduate

Raphael Pour-Hashemi has reviewed the Region 2 Momentum Director's Chair Reissue of The Graduate. One of the quintessential sixties movies on a stunning video transfer with a few nice extras. Definitely worth some of your time and money.

Father Ted: The Complete 1st Series

Alexander Larman has reviewed the Region 2 release of Father Ted: the complete 1st series. One of the greatest sitcoms ever gets a good DVD release, which bodes well for subsequent series to get them as well.

Arsenal : The Official End of Season Review 2000-2001

Mark Davis has reviewed the Region 0 release of Arsenal : The Official End of Season Review 2000-2001. Unbelievably a Newcastle fan (i.e. me) gives a good review to a disc about Arsenal. Quite honestly I feel dirty now and need a lie down.

Night on Earth

Mark Davis has reviewed the Region 2 release of Night on Earth. Second Sight have produced a second disc of Jim Jarmusch's work. An excellent film, but some extras wouldn't have gone amiss.

Behind the Planet of the Apes

Mark Davis has reviewed the Region 1 release of Behind the Planet of the Apes. A fantastic documentary to round off the Planet of the Apes Evolution Box Set. The set itself is definitely worth the money and I hope the forthcoming R2 box set is anamorphic as that would be the icing on the cake.

Santana: Legends of Rock

Chris Lynch has reviewed the Region 0 release of Santana: Legends of Rock, a serious contender for the worst DVD ever. It couldn't possibly be worst than Wishbone Ash could it? Well...

Josie and the Pussycats

Andy Hall has reviewed the Region 1 release of Josie and the Pussycats. It's not even out at the cinema here yet (it's released on Friday August 24th) but you can already see this very amusing comedy on a reasonably decent region 1 disc.

Yojimbo

Dave Foster has reviewed the Region 1 release of >Yojimbo. Another great Kurosawa film receives an average DVD release from the supposed masters of classic films, Criterion.

Evil Dead, The

Alexander Larman has reviewed the Region 2 release of Evil Dead, The. A seminal horror film is released on a faintly disappointing DVD, although the fact that it is uncut in the UK for the first time should be enough to convince horror fans to buy it.

Friends Series 7 Episodes 9-12

Chris Lynch has reviewed the Region 2 release of Friends Series 7 Episodes 9-12....

Shadow Hours

Mike Sutton has reviewed the Region 2 release of Shadow Hours. A deliriously silly exploitation film...

Manhunter

Concluding his short series of reviews of the Hannibal Lecter films, Alexander Larman has reviewed the Region 2 release of Manhunter (new version). A superb film is presented on a more or less identical disc to the Anchor Bay single-disc version already available; read on to see if the absence of the director's cut makes any difference.

The Searchers

Mike Sutton has reviewed the Region 2 release of The Searchers. The film is an enduring masterpiece containing John Wayne's finest performanc but the disc is rather a missed opportunity.

But I'm A Cheerleader!

Alexander Larman has reviewed the Region 2 release of But I'm a cheerleader!. A poor film is presented on an unexceptional disc with virtually no extras.
