In the Line of Fire (Special Edition)

Alexander Larman has reviewed the Region 1 release of In the Line of Fire. A very good thriller is well presented on a disc with some better than usual extras.

Underneath

Gary Couzens has reviewed the Region 1 release of Steven Soderbergh's Underneath, a stylish and intriguing if rather remote, flashback-heavy modern-day film noir. Universal's disc is adequate but no more.

Sex, Lies, and Videotape

In the first of two reviews of Steven Soderbergh films to mark the DVD release of Traffic, Gary Couzens has reviewed the Region 1 release of Sex, Lies, and Videotape. Soderbergh's breakthrough film, and one of the major American independent movies of the last two decades, gets a worthwhile DVD release. The disc is light on extras but has an excellent commentary.

Airplane!

Raphael Pour-Hashemi has reviewed the Region 1 release of Airplane!.A classic spoof comedy that is a must see winner, presented on a good disc from Paramount.

Pay It Forward

Raphael Pour-Hashemi has reviewed the Region 2 release of Pay It Forward. A worthy drama that tries too hard to be an all-time classic, presented with extras that don't quite make the grade either. Even so, a film with the acting talents of Kevin Spacey, Helen Hunt and Haley Joel Osment is definitely worth a look.

City Hunter

Dave Foster has reviewed the Region 2 release of City Hunter. A fun action comedy starring the ever watchable Jackie Chan, this Hong Kong Legends DVD is easily the definitive version with a great array of extra features.

Eastern Condors

Dave Foster has reviewed the Region 0 release of Eastern Condors. Sammo Hung and Yuen Biao excel in this action packed Hong Kong war movie. The Hong Kong Legends DVD offers a good transfer but is sadly cut and also lacking in the extras department.

Armour of God

Dave Foster has reviewed the Region 2 release of Armour of God. One of Jackie Chans more forgettable movies the DVD offers a very good transfer but is sadly lacking in unique extras.

Indiscreet

Olly Portingale has reviewed the Region 2 release of Indiscreet.

Memento

Alexander Larman has reviewed the Region 2 release of the excellent Memento. This is a review of the current rental disc, which can be bought quite easily ex-rental; the disc has excellent picture and sound quality, but no extras, as you would expect.

Beneath the Planet of the Apes

Mark Davis has reviewed the Region 1 release of Beneath the Planet of the Apes. Disc two of the Evolution boxset, this is a pale imitation of the original film and the disc is nothing to shout about.

Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel Live In London

Mike Sutton has reviewed the Region 0 release of Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel Live In London. Not a bad concert for those of us who remember the mid seventies through a drunken haze, but a mediocre DVD release.

Dancer in the Dark

Alexander Larman has reviewed the Region 1 release of Dancer in the Dark. A film that is absolutely guaranteed to divide any audience, New Line have presented it on a DVD with excellent picture and sound quality and some good extras.

Under Suspicion

Mike Sutton has reviewed the Region 2 release of Under Suspicion. A very enjoyable thriller which will please fans of Gene Hackman and Morgan Freeman. The disc is competent but lacking in extra features.

A Better Tomorrow 2

Dave Foster has reviewed the Region 0 release of A Better Tomorrow 2. The second review in my double bill of John Woo classics.

A Better Tomorrow

Dave Foster has reviewed the Region 0 release of A Better Tomorrow. If you are interested in seeing the films that kickstarted John Woo and Chow Yun Fats careers then you should take a look at Anchor Bays releases of A Better Tomorrow 1 and 2.

Moby: Play

Alexander Larman has reviewed the Region 2 release of Moby: Play. The most famous man to be named after a whale has released an interesting DVD with a good freebie.

Gone in 60 Seconds

Andy Hall has reviewed the Region 2 release of the Jerry Bruckheimer produced Gone in Sixty Seconds and was somewhat disappointed. The disc looks great and sounds even better, though.

The Ten Commandments

Mike Sutton has reviewed the Region 2 release of The Ten Commandments. A legend of popular filmmaking which is a lot more entertaining than you might expect. The DVD has stunning picture quality but not much in the way of special features.

Tiff Needell Burning Rubber

Andy Hall has reviewed the Region 2 release of Tiff Needell Burning Rubber. The Top Gear presenter gives us an instructional video in stunt driving techniques. The Daily Mail would never approve...

Way of the Gun

Alexander Larman has reviewed the Region 1 release of Way of the Gun. An underrated film is presented on a fairly good disc.

Fight Club (Special Edition)

Alexander Larman has reviewed the Region 1 release of Fight Club. A seminal film deserved a good disc, and Fox more than delivered, on a DVD which is still regarded as one of the best yet produced.

Wishbone Ash: Legends of Rock

Alexander Larman has reluctantly reviewed the Region 0 release of Wishbone Ash: Legends of Rock. A strong contender for 'worst music DVD yet released', it has to be seen to be believed.

Panda! Go Panda

Dave Foster has reviewed the Region 1 DVD release of Panda! Go Panda. Finishing my recent set of reviews based around the work of Studio Ghibli this is a decent Region 1 release that will satisfy fans of Hayao Miyazaki, and is also worth checking out if you are a parent as children will love this film.

Magnificent Butcher

Dave Foster has reviewed the Region 2 release of Magnificent Butcher, directed by Yuen Woo-ping and starring Sammo Hung this is another quality release from Hong Kong Legends.
