Sebastiane
Gary Couzens has reviewed the Region 0 release of Sebastiane, Derek Jarman's Latin-language directorial debut, a landmark in gay cinema and still one of a kind. For Jarman fans it will be essential, and there's a fascinating extra in an interview with the man. Unfortunately the very same extra appears on Second Sight's simultaneously released edition of Jubilee, and the picture quality of this disc leaves a lot to be desired.
Jubilee
Raphael Pour-Hashemi has reviewed the Region 0 release of Jubilee. The first 'official' punk movie is more of an era piece but certainly worth a look if you are interested in the works of Derek Jarman. There is an excellent extra included on the disk as well.
Newsfront
Gary Couzens has reviewed the Region 4 release of Newsfront. A classic Australian film gets a mostly excellent DVD release from Roadshow.
The Interview
Gary Couzens has reviewed the Region 0 release of The Interview, an award-winning drama from Australia, with a brilliant performance from Hugo Weaving as a man interrogated by the police for a crime he may or may not have committed. Siren's DVD release has rather basic picture and sound but makes up for it with some good extras.
